Julia Chiappetti
Background
Julia has lived locally since 2013 and on Dunbar Road for the past five years.
Originally from rural Dorset, she has raised her children here, they attend Talbot Primary School and Glenmoor & Winton Academy. Julia understands the issues that matter most locally and is passionate about protecting the places that make our part of Bournemouth special.
Experience
Julia had a degree in Architecture from Arts University Bournemouth and now works in community research and design.
Community & Interests
She has a track record of working for the community. Julia became actively involved in the Highmoor Farm discussions, helping to protect our area’s green spaces.
She organised a community art exhibition celebrating local heathland, and has worked with local researchers on conservation projects in Talbot Woodland. She regularly volunteers on woodland and heathland conservation and is a member of the Talbot history group.
Julia is currently studying for her Masters in Sustainability and Ecology. She enjoys family adventures in nature and making the most of our coastline by paddleboarding in the sea with her husband and children in the summer.
Matt Gillett
Background
Matt lives on Lonsdale Road near St. Luke’s Church with his family. Having lived in the ward for 21 years, he understands the local issues.
Experience
For the past three years Matt has served as the local BCP councillor, working hard to stand up for residents and improve the neighbourhood. Matt runs his own business in Poole and brings practical experience and a strong work ethic to serving the community.
Community & Interests
He has a proven track record of getting things done locally, regularly gets involved with community litter picks to keep our streets clean and tidy and taking action to repair flower baskets and bins along Wimborne Road. Matt also successfully campaigned for better access to Wimborne Road Cemetery so residents with limited mobility can visit loved ones more easily. He has also been working with residents and local groups to tackle antisocial behaviour and improve safety in the community
In his spare time Matt enjoys walking his dog Angus around Meyrick Park and spending time with his family. He remains committed to working with residents and local groups to continue improving the area and making it an even better place to live.
