Jeff Hanna
Background
Jeff grew up in Ireland, moving to England for university. He then taught in schools around London, becoming a headteacher of a secondary school before moving to Bournemouth with his wife. Jeff has served Southbourne as a Councillor for the past three years, working hard to stand up for residents and improve the local area.
Experience
Jeff is actively involved in a number of community groups. He supports the Southbourne Forum, a discussion group that considers local issues and promotes the community. He has campaigned for improvements for Beaufort Play Park and has identified funding for further improvements which should be in place by the summer. Jeff has volunteered at Southbourne Food Bank helping residents with the cost of living crisis.
Community & Interests
When Jeff is not working on behalf of residents or volunteering his time, he enjoys going on bike rides and going for walks, particularly around Hengistbury Head.
Bernadette Nanovo
Background
Bernadette loves living in Southbourne with her husband, an armed services veteran. Since moving to the area in 2019 she has become actively involved in supporting residents and protecting the unique character of Southbourne.
Experience
Bernadette has been the BCP councillor for Southbourne and Tuckton for nearly three years.
Community & Interests
Bernadette has set up and is volunteering with several community groups including Friends of Seafield Gardens and Friends of Wick Play Park to improve our play areas. She also set up the Southbourne Wick and Tuckton Action Group, a group that runs regular litter picks and street cleaning. She works with residents on planning issues and local concerns, making sure their voices are heard.
Bernadette has worked hard to raise funds for good causes that support people in the area, such as Help for Heroes and the Centre for Women’s Justice.
Bernadette is passionate about community engagement and regularly attends Southbourne Forum and local residents’ meetings to listen to concerns and work with people to find solutions. She also supports local initiatives such as Hengistbury Head Outdoors and writes a regular column in the Southbourne Eye magazine, helping to keep residents informed about issues.
