Canford Heath
Rachael Gilder and Sandra Moore
Rachael Gilder
Background
Rachael has grown up in Canford Heath and has lived in the area for the past 18 years. She now lives on Verity Crescent with her family and her dog, Olly. Having spent most of her life here, Rachael understands the issues that matter most to our community and wants to see Canford Heath continue to thrive as a great place to live and grow up in.
Experience
Rachael has worked in childcare for the past nine years, supporting children and families across several nurseries in Poole. She has seen first-hand how important early years support can be. She is particularly passionate about improving youth services in Canford Heath so that young people have safe spaces to learn and socialise. In recent years, Rachael has also volunteered with Dorset Reading Partners, helping children with their reading. She also regularly takes part in local litter picks, helping keep community spaces clean and tidy.
Community & Interests
Rachael enjoys getting involved in local events across Poole, such as volunteering for Grooves on the Green and the Broadstone Parade. One of her favourite traditions is visiting the Christmas Lights in the Square with her family. In her spare time she enjoys going to the local gym and taking her dog Olly for walks on the Heath.
Sandra Moore
Background
Born locally, Sandra has lived in Canford Heath for more than two decades. She lives on Uplyme Close with her husband Tony, her brother Eric, and her cat, Magic. Sandra has served Canford Heath residents as a ward councillor since 2000.
Experience
Sandra has a proven record of action within our community. She volunteers with many local organisations including Friends of Canford Heath Library, ARCH, Limelights, Canford Heath Neighbourhood Watch, and the TEACH Trust, which supports four local primary schools. As a trustee with the TEACH Trust she helps support local education and opportunities for young people.
She regularly organises community litter picks across Canford Heath and runs pre-loved book sales to raise funds for the Canford Heath Library. Sandra also helps organise fundraising events for our area, bringing residents together to support community projects.
Community & Interests
Sandra enjoys spending time with her two grandsons. Together they love visiting local attractions such as Poole Lighthouse, Hope Farm and Tower Park.
