Paul Radcliffe and Michelle Young

Paul Radcliffe

Background
Paul has lived in Bournemouth for 40 years. He has a deep connection to Boscombe, where he has worked for over 35 years. Through his work in local supermarkets, he has become a familiar face to many residents and understands the day-to-day issues people face.

Experience
He has also been actively involved in the local community regularly attending Boscombe Forum meetings. Paul has stood as a Liberal Democrat candidate in Boscombe in both the 2019 and 2023 BCP Council elections. His experience campaigning locally has given him a strong understanding of the challenges facing the area, from housing pressures to concerns about fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour. He is passionate about working with residents to tackle these issues and  improve our high street.

Community & Interests
Outside of his community work, Paul enjoys following sports, including Leeds United and the  Detroit Lions, and has a keen interest in public transport, particularly buses old and new. He also  appreciates real ale and values the strong sense of community and culture that makes Boscombe such a special place to live and work.

Michelle Young

Background
Michelle lives in Boscombe and loves the strong sense of community that makes the area special. She has worked locally as a hairdresser for 30 years, speaking to residents every day and hearing first-hand about the issues affecting people’s lives. Through her work, Michelle has built strong local connections and understands what matters most to residents.

Experience
Michelle is not afraid to speak up on behalf of residents and is determined to get things done. She successfully campaigned for double yellow lines near her home to tackle dangerous parking and improve safety. Her day-to-day conversations with local people give her a clear understanding of the issues facing Boscombe, particularly the need to improve roads and pavements and make the area cleaner and safer.

Community & Interests
Michelle is an active part of the community, regularly attending aqua aerobics at her local gym,  enjoying trips to the beach, and organising social events, including hosting skincare sessions at her local church. She is passionate about bringing people together and wants to see more community events in Boscombe to strengthen community spirit and make our town sparkle. She also enjoys  karaoke and spending time with her three cats.
