Michael Tarling has lived in Christchurch for the last 25 years; a Chartered Construction Consultant he also has a keen interest in the Environment and Sciences.

He lives near Stanpit Marsh with his wife and two children and is a keen birdwatcher. Michael is a member of Discover Science Christchurch a group of scientists and engineers hoping to open a new science attraction in Christchurch; Michael is a STEM Ambassador and a member of local choirs and is proud to have appeared as the Genie of the Lamp in panto a few years ago.

Michael has represented Christchurch Town on BCP Council since the authority was created in 2019. He is a member of the Audit and Governance Committee and the Eastern BCP Planning Committee.
