Lib Dem candidates for Bournemouth East and West, Jon Nicholas and Phil Dunn, recently wrote to the Bournemouth Echo regarding UKIP's endorsement of the Conservative candidate for Bournemouth West, Conor Burns.
The full text of the letter is as follows:
The nominations for the General Election have closed, and it is clear that the Liberal Democrats are the only option in Bournemouth for people who want a say on the final Brexit deal. The Bournemouth West Conservatives are now little more than UKIP with blue rosettes.
Bournemouth needs MPs that will fight a damaging Tory hard Brexit deal, which could seriously harm some of our town's key employers. Financial services, tourism, the booming tech sector, our universities and our health service could all be hit. But the Tories take the voters of Bournemouth for granted.
Meanwhile, Labour's leaked manifesto makes it clear that it has neither the appetite nor the capacity to challenge hard Brexit, giving Theresa May a free pass in this election to pursue cuts to education and schools.
The people of Bournemouth deserve MPs that stand up for the best interests of the town. If they didn’t vote UKIP in the past, why would they vote Conservative now? A vote for the Tories in Bournemouth is a vote for UKIP in a very thin disguise.
