Getting the private sector to invest without cost to the council tax payer

By working with the private sector an exciting plan to refurbish the Pavilion is underway. A strong commitment has been given to work with English Heritage and to refurbish the building, bringing out its pre-war splendour.

The company behind the successful Theatre Royal in Bath will take over running the Pavilion and providing a range of quality entertainment. Staff at the Pavilion will have their jobs and conditions protected under TUPE rules.

To support the financial operation a high-class resort casino will be included and designs will be subject to planning permission. This means the whole refurbishment, which would have cost taxpayers millions, is covered and an independent operator is tied into providing quality entertainment in one of the key venues in our town centre, without subsidy from local taxpayers.
