Campaigning for Bournemouth

Bournemouth Pier

Bournemouth International Centre

More local jobs and a boost to the local economy.

As well as the BIC needing more conference space, a refurbishment also means better catering, and a larger Windsor Hall attracting larger entertainment events (e.g. big name concerts) which would benefit residents and visitors alike.

Value for money

Pool decline

The pool has seen steadily declining use. For instance seven times as many people used the Littledown pool compared to the BIC, and more tourists used the Littledown over the BIC. The ice rink at the BIC in fact had more users in the few months it was open than the BIC pool had all year!

The need to invest in the BIC is agreed by all parties. But whereas the Conservatives and Labour were willing to pay the massive costs to keep the pool Lib Dems made the difficult decision that the best value for taxpayers was to close the pool and allow the much needed redevelopment to happen.
