Since then, bad weather hampered installation of the reef, and the decision has been made not to complete this year. It ought to be finished in 2009, which means that it'll be 'surf up' in time for Autumn 2009, when the surf season starts.

Work is continuing on the area in front of the pier, including the recent installation of a piece of sculpture, and the overstrand building on the Prom towards Southbourne. If the project is still on schedule, this means that by Spring 2009 all the works on land will be complete.
