Keeping down Council Tax boosts Lib Dem support11.05.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 2nd May 2007 A RECORD of keeping Council Tax down every year they have been in power is winning support for the Lib Dems in tomorrow's Town Hall elections. This year's rise under the Lib Dems was just 3.2 per cent, barely above the 3.1 per cent rate of inflation. The figures contrast with an overall 49 per cent rise imposed by the Tories, when they last ran the Town Hall. By tackling inefficiency, the Lib Dems have been able to keep bills down and boost services. The new doorstep scheme has doubled recycling, and major investment in modern CCTV is helping tackle crime.
