Big brother is watching - put it in a bin!

Following investment by the Lib Dems in state-of-the-art CCTV, the Council has confirmed that it will be used to identify people who litter our streets.

'This is good news for the many residents who are proud to live Bournemouth, and don't want to see it spoiled by careless or deliberate dropping of litter, chewing gum, and dog fouling,' says Councillor Ben Prescott.

'This behaviour is anti social, and costs Council Tax payer's money to clear up. I hope this additional measure will encourage people to think again and use a bin.'

CCTV footage will be used along side patrols, working with fast food outlets, advert campaigns, and other measures used by the Council to deal with littering, such as boards on lamp-posts for chewing gum.

The plans do not include publishing images on the Council website.
