Ice Skating is back at the BIC

Ice skating will be back in Bournemouth's BIC this summer and talks are under way for the Christmas period as well. And B:Active, an indoor activity and sport adventure zone is also back in the Purbeck Hall.

"This is excellent news," says Councillor Andrew Garratt, leader of the Lib Dem group who run Bournemouth Council.

"Residents tell us that ice skating is very popular, especially during school holiday periods. We're delighted that we're able to bring ice skating back again. The rink will be based in the new Solent Hall, which replaced the leisure pool in the multi-million upgrade of the BIC. Although it was a very difficult decision to close the pool, we hope that residents will agree that the Council is right to ensure that leisure events like ice skating are taking its place"

  • The council is working with promoter Simon Maddox, the ice expert from the ITV reality show Dancing on Ice.

  • The rink opened on Wednesday 2nd August and will remain open till Wednesday 30th August, from 9:30am to 9:30pm, seven days a week.

  • B Active opened on 22nd July and will run throughout the whole of the summer holidays until Sunday 28th August.
