Boscombe seafront scheme approved

10.56.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 20th Sep 2005

Planners granted planning permission for the Boscombe seafront scheme last night (19 September 2005).

As well as renovating the existing buildings, including the listed pier-neck building, the scheme is putting Boscombe on the map: Europe's first artificial surf reef.

'Surfing is a growing sport, with fabulous spectator potential as well' says Cllr Rob Copeland. 'The whole scheme should be finished by Summer 2008, and its going to make a huge difference to local people, and to Bournemouth as a whole.'
